Remember, our membership year is the calendar year so your dues are due now! $10 for annual dues and $100 for Life membership. Our mailing address in in the right-hand column, below.
We're starting another great year of raising funds for vocational scholarships for SWHS and State Street High School graduates! Come join us! There's lots for a Cub to do!
Next meeting January 16, 2013, 1:00 p.m. at the Sedro-Woolley Senior Center.
The Sedro-Woolley High School Alumni Association will
meet Wednesday, December 19 at 1:00 p.m. at the Sedro-Woolley Senior
Center! All monthly meetings are now scheduled for the THIRD Wednesday of the month at 1:00 p.m. Easy for you to remember!
We plan for our popular All-Class Picnic all year 'round. The next one will be Saturday, July 13, 2013. Get it on your calendar! And it will be so much more fun for you and your classmates if you get involved! Plan to have a class tent at the picnic! Volunteer to help register attendees and/or help with other logistics. Get a class sign made! Make sure you are on the distribution list for our semi-annual newsletter! Visit this blog and our official web site often!
We encourage all classes to send representatives to each
monthly meeting. The SWHS Alumni Association raises funds for vocational scholarships for SWHS and State Street High School graduates and also provides the perfect opportunity for a class get-together at the annual All-Class Picnic. Show your Cub Pride and get involved! Your friends and classmates are already here!
The SWHS Alumni Assn will meet Wednesday, Nov. 21, at 1:00 p.m. at the Sedro-Woolley Senior Center! Election of officers, newsletter deadline, and other regular business! Now accepting dues payments for 2013. $10 per year or $100 for a lifetime membership. Come and show your Cubs Spirit!
The Alumni Association - as of right this minute - has 322 Annual members and 201 Life members for a total current membership of 523!
Thank you all for your membership and support. You make scholarships possible for graduating Cubs!
There are about 4500 potential members of the Association; we encourage current members to recruit their friends and even to upgrade from an Annual membership to a Life membership!
Life memberships are currently $100 and you can pay via check mailed to the Association or via PayPal on the Association's web site: www.swhsaa.com
Our membership year is the calendar year, so if you are planning to be an Annual member, dues are $10 for the year and are payable as above.
104 Alumni have already sent in their dues for 2013! We are grateful to have so many supportive members!
Remember, the S-WHS AA has Internet presence in these three places:
Web site: www.swhsaa.com
Blog site: www.swhsalumni.blogspot.com
Facebook: look for us as the Sedro-Woolley High School Alumni Assn.
These are the OFFICIAL sites for all Cubs!
If your class has a web site or Facebook page, PLEASE send us the information so we can link to it here and feature it in our newsletter!
In other news, the Association has decided to always meet on the third Wednesday of the month at 1:00 p.m. at the Sedro-Woolley Senior Center. If you are unable to get to these meetings, there are so many other ways you can participate! Contact us to share your skills and talents!
Next meetings: November 21 and December 19.
Our major fundraisers during the year remain our springtime Geranium and Bake Sale (May) and the colossal All-Class Picnic (July). We also receive a large number of donations for memorials or celebrations. Your participation and donations make our scholarship program possible. Be proud!
Thanks to Barbara Thompson '43 and her HUGE crew for an AMAZING All-Class Picnic! About 500 Cubs (and their guests) attended and we had a great time meeting up with old friends and new ones.
Our oldest attending alum was Elwood "Tres" Tresner, who proudly represented the class of 1930! Other vintage Cubs attending were Peggy McDonald Banker '32 and Joe Nemo.
We raised more money from generous donors for our scholarship program benefiting SWHS and State Street HS grads who plan to pursue vocational education.
Joy's Baker catered another great lunch and Bob Dow '72 was the perfect MC.
Add in some music from Reidar Ytgard '46 and Sally Thompson Rauch '73, and you have yourself a party!
See you next year!
The date has arrived! Our annual S-WHS All Class Picnic is Saturday, July 7, at Sedro-Woolley's Riverfront Park, and everything is in place!
Picnic chair Barbara Ward Thompson, Class of 1943, has ordered beautiful weather and a big crowd.
Our caterer is Joy's Bakery, a S-WHS graduate-owned business and a local favorite.
11 classes have arranged to have their own tents at the picnic, for easier chatting and identifying those memorable classmates!
Here is the list of classes that will have their own tents:
1942
1945 and 1946 together
1947
1948
1952
1956
1957

So join us - some late reservations are available on the day of the picnic. $20 at the door. The fun starts around 11 a.m. Bob Dow, Class of 1972, will be our MC again this year.
Be ready for our scholarship fundraisers on site!
Who will be the oldest classmate in attendance? Which graduating class has the most paid memberships in the Alumni Association?
